Winter Restaurant Specials near #Chappies

One of the most enjoyable things at the on-set of winter in Cape Town is the remarkable food specials that are on offer. As a culinary city, Capetonians are used to eating out and eating out well. We have selected a few of the winter restaurant specials in and around Chapman’s Peak Drive so take advantage of these specials and taste your way around Cape Town this winter.  #Chappies is open 24 hours a day (weather permitting), so you can always use the drive to get home – please do so safely.

The 41 Restaurant and Bar (Camps Bay)

Enjoy the Camps Bay vibe regardless of the cooler weather with The 41’s winter menu. Choose two courses for R180 or three for R220 from the winter menu that includes a warming soup of the day, a Thai chicken-and-prawn curry and crème brûlée for dessert.

Bilboa (Camps Bay)

Choose either two courses for R195 or three for R250 from Bilboa’s winter menu. Starter options include baby squid with chorizo aioli or fried haloumi with za’atar yoghurt; for mains you can opt for the hearty short rib served with flatbread and yoghurt, or swordfish with chermoula and tomato. Go all out for dessert with a rich baked chocolate ganache or farro pudding with caramelised oranges and tahini.

Bistro Sixteen82 (Steenberg)

You’ll be spoiled for choice at Bistro Sixteen82 this winter, where you can choose two courses for R205, three courses for R235 and four courses for R265. Think dishes like pickled fish, chicken liver bruschetta, and parsnip and apple soup for starters; and mains of sustainable fish, pulled pork and ricotta gnocchi, and a pea and caramelised onion risotto. If you’re going for dessert, there’s a choice between a dreamy yoghurt mousse, a delicious chocolate éclair and a spiced plum pudding. You can also enjoy a wintery breakfast. The Vintner’s Breakfast includes a glass of Steenberg bubbly with your choice of signature classics on the breakfast menu, including eggs Benedict and tea or coffee. It’s followed by a cellar tour and wine tasting. The Vintner’s Breakfast costs R165 per person and is available during weekdays from 9am and ends with the cellar tour at 11am. Lastly, the chef’s special of five tapas dishes for R325 is ideal as an early supper for two, available between 5pm and 8pm.

Bistro at Klein Constantia (Constantia)

This cosy bistro is offering a special winter menu Tuesdays to Fridays. For R220 for two courses or R290 for three courses, tuck into tasty dishes like a country pork terrine or warming onion soup, before moving on to breaded hake served with curried mayo or beef fillet, pommes frites and a cafe au lait sauce, and a naartjie and vanilla crème brûlée for dessert.

Blanko Restaurant (Constantia)

Enjoy the best of the wintery weather at Blanko by indulging in the winter set menu. Choose from dishes like spinach and ricotta gnocchi or bolognese arancini for starters; sirloin with fries and pepper sauce, or linefish tagliata for mains; and a warm fudge pudding or orange crème brûlée for dessert. Pay R190 for two courses or R240 for three.

The Bungalow Restaurant (Camps Bay)

Choose one of the special winter dishes like lamb curry or mussels in a creamy white wine sauce. Or opt for the set menu option, where two courses cost R220 and three cost R260. The set menu includes starters like a soup of the day or grilled calamari with tartare sauce, and mains such as classic fish and chips or fillet pasta. For a sweet ending, choose between malva pudding and vanilla panna cotta.

Catharina’s Restaurant (Steenberg)

The iconic Catharina’s offers a special seasonal menu this winter. Choose two courses for R185 or three for R215 and tuck into hearty starters like roast cream of tomato soup, or a seafood croquette with tempura veggies and tomato salsa. Mains include sous vide pork belly with crushed potatoes and stir-fried vegetables, or battered kingklip and chips. If you’re after dessert, there’s a sticky date pudding, sorbets and an Amarula crème brûlée from which to choose.

Cheyne’s (Hout Bay)

Head out to Hout Bay to make the most of the winter specials on offer at Cheyne’s this season. His annual yum cha menu is back, which allows you to tuck into any three dishes at R150 per person.

The Foodbarn (Noordhoek)

Treat yourself to Franck Dangereux’s incredible food with The Foodbarn’s winter special. Choose two courses for R235, three courses for R295 or four courses for R365.

Foxcroft (Constantia)

Indulge in two to four plates of Foxcroft’s tapas for between R195 and R295 per person. This special is available for lunch on Mondays to Fridays. Book via 0212023304.

Harbour House (Constantia Nek and Kalk Bay)

Indulge in Harbour House’s winter set menu running until 13 June. Choose between two courses for R225 or three courses for R255. Expect starters such as prawn bisque and mains like beef sirloin with creamy potatoes or pea risotto. Finish off with Eton mess. This special is available Mondays to Sundays, except for Sunday lunches.

La Belle (Camps Bay)

La Belle is offering a special menu this winter that includes a handful of well-priced dishes. Fill up on grilled hake with potato purée and a beurre blanc for R120; a creamy broccoli soup for R60; or a lentil, roast veggie and chickpea pie for R95.

La Colombe (Constantia Nek)

Enjoy some of the Cape’s finest food whilst soaking up the views of the Constantia Valley this winter as La Colombe’s winter lunch special returns. Valid from 16 April till 31 August 2018 (with a brief pause while they go on annual leave until early July) they are offering R465 per person for 4 courses.

Paranga (Camps Bay)

Warm up to a two-course set menu at R240 per person, or get three courses for R290. Highlights include beef carpaccio, slow-braised beef short rib and glazed lemon tart. This special is available both lunch and dinner until 31 August.

Spiro’s (Hout Bay)

Mondays to Thursdays from 3pm to 9pm, and Sundays from 4pm to 8pm, you can enjoy a select offering of Spiro’s delicious food. Try the pork belly souvlaki for R85, the chicken gyro for R70 or moussaka for R95. This special excludes sides.

Zenzero (Camps Bay)

Enjoy the Camps Bay vibes as you take advantage of the great winter special at Zenzero. Order two courses for R220 and 3 courses for R270. Look out for the great seafood options, like the calamari and the grilled catch of the day.
