Chapman’s Peak Drive is often referred to as one of the most scenic drives in the world.
Cruising the 9km route with 114 curves, a rocky coastline dropping into the Atlantic Ocean and colourful sandstone sedimentary rock towering above you, is a jaw-dropping experience.
Do it at sunset and you will be gob-smacked.
The rocks glow in golden light, the sea shimmers and sparkles and the smiling faces looking at the view pose for classic selfies.
Sunset on Chappies is heaven on earth for photographers… tripods the size of grown men appear, light meters and angles are lined up and realigned and readjusted to get that perfect shot.
When last did you drive Chappies at sunset? Send us a picture (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or post one of your sunset shots on Facebook page… or tweet us…
Day Passes are valid during daylight hours, so you can make use of the free pass between sunrise and sunset. That gives you just enough time to get to the Turn Around point and back. Personally we recommend driving through and experiencing the entire road in the golden hour.
